This week I learned something about impedance while assisting. While recording brass my teacher ran his AEA ribbon mic through a cloud lifter which could change the impedance of the mic. I though impedance only had to do with energy but learned that It also affects the sound of a mic. We were recording a trombone and when we had the cloud lifter on low impedance it had a dark softer tone but the higher the impedance it made the mike more bright and present. It cool to see how running sounds through different hardware can really affect your overall recording.
