While assisting my mentor showed me a cool warp feature I can apply to audio.  We were working on a amateur rap song where the delivery wasn’t to great so my mentor showed me how fast he could fix it with a little swing while quantizing to 1/64th notes.  Before this I was aware of how to warp audio in pro tools and how to quantize midi on its own.  I didn’t know you could combine both of those ideas to fix the timing by quantizing waveforms.  This is really useful tool for me especially when it comes to sampling or fixing vocals that were off beat or off the grid. Another thing I brought up was how I noticed the drums had no compression on it at all,  my mentor brought up the fact of how it was a mellow song and how he thought they were doing enough and didn’t want to make them more exciting than the already laid back vocal.  This made sense to me especially because it was a hip hop song where kicks are usually already compressed.
