Chapter 14 (My adventures with Bruce at Boho Digitalia Studios) Posted on 2016-04-27 by Devin Hannesson

This week was great! I was lucky enough to sit in on a session run by one of Bruce's old advanced course students, Isaac. He was tracking drums at Bruce's studio for his band 'Dream Collage.' It was aweseome! Isaac was a great producer, and it was really fun to watch him at work. Andrew, the drummer he was tracking, was really talented. He stayed on the click track perfectly! I found it hilarious and really cool that the bassists name was Joseph Smith, especially since we are out here in Utah! Overall, Dream Collage is a great band that I hope gets some publicity and recognition with this new ablum.

My lesson with Bruce was also great. We talked about compression and gating a lot, and I showed Bruce my mix. I didn't think it was that good, but Bruce assured me that it was 'amazingly good' for a first mix, which totally made my month!

I'm really excited to be getting to the conclusion of the course. I'm starting to work on my resume now, and I'm super stoked on applying for jobs! There are 2 studios out here in Salt Lake City that I have found that I believe would be phenomenal to work at, Elevate Studios, and High Vibe Recordings. I have been told that Elevate Studios is run by the drummer for Chelsea Grin (one of my faovrite bands), and High Vibe Recordings is run by Stetson Whitworth, who has worked with some of my favorite bands, such as Chelsea Grin and Our Last Night!

I'm going in to the studio for my Chapter 15 review in a few days, I'll let you know how that goes!
