Lesson 8 was about getting audio into the DAW, and this lesson also covered different kinds of miking techniques. My mentor quizzed me on the different miking techniques (close, accent, distant, ambient) by making me show him where in reference to an acoustic guitar I would place the mic. This exercise helped me solidify my understanding of mic placement techniques. When I sat in on a session the Monday of the week before, I helped set up mics for a grand piano and a drum set. We had to think about the 3:1 rule, different mic placements, and avoiding phase issues. After doing this lesson and thinking back to that session things have really started making sense.
