I Haven't blogged in a while so here goes. In this lesson John and I worked on a better understanding of compression added to effects. He demonstrated side chaining and parralle compression. John showed me the effects of compression before a delay and why you would use it. We talked about using stereo imagers and how there used to see certian sounds within the mix. We then used that knowladge to pan instruments accordinly. John taught me how to use gated reverb for snare drums and toms. We talked about the plugins that John used and certian plugins that ive really liked using. Anything from Soundtoys or SlateDigital I love using and of course the VBC rack. We ended with John talking about a book that he recommended Mastering Audio the Art and Science. The book sounded very interesting and something I will definitly be picking up.
