Plugins & Processing Posted on 2017-03-13 by Corrine Selden

Here are a few highlights from what I learned about plugins and processing in Chapter 10:

  • Plugins are a set of software components that add capabilities to a larger software.
  • Time based effects are typically used on an aux track with a send.
  • AutoTune is made by Antares.
  • RTAS stands for Real Time Audio Suite.
  • TDM stands for Time Division Multiplexing.
  • The VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugin format was developed by Steinberg.
  • The render button on an Audiosuite plugin renders the changes you have made to the audio file itself, and creates a new file in the clip list.
  • Pro Tools 11 has discontinued support of both RTAS and TDM based signal processing.
  • Dynamic and frequency based processors are typically used on an insert.
  • Audiosuite plugins save processing power by precessing digital audio offline.
  • You must have a clip selected to use Audiosuite plugins.
