Major: Audio Engineering

My name is Dustin King. I was born in Germany and raised in North Carolina. Ever since I was a kid, i have been interested in music. Whether it was listening to music, going to concerts, or just hearing someone sing or talk about music in general. It has always fascinated me. As a son of parents in the military, i would learn about different kinds of music just by moving from state to state. From Texas' famous Tex-Mex rock to North Carloina's deep and soulful blues, it was amazing how each state or territory in the U.S. had its own style of music. At age 8 I started playing guitar, which i loved right away. I never took any music classes in all the years i was in school or learned how to read chords or sheet music (I did eventually learn years later). But I took a year or two of guitar lessons from a guy in town when i was young. It was the best teaching experience. We would just play and sometimes learn by "tabs" or the numbers of the frets. No chords, no half notes or quarter notes etc. This experience would eventually lead me to play by ear. As the years past and after going to a college for a general degree (which didn't work out), I found myself looking for a new opportunity. It wasn't until last year that I discovered the Recording Connection and since then I've left Missouri and moved to Washington D.C. to start a new life and career in music. It's the greatest learning experience for someone who wants to get involved with music and literally be hands on with what you are working with. Also, with other musicians involved with Recording Connection, you get to combine knowledge and music experiences with each other in the same studio. With this program, you learn something new every single day..
