Week 14 Lesson 14 Posted on 2013-07-23 by Malecia Bynum

July 17, 2013

Arrival Time:8pm

Departure: 12:30pm

This is the day that I have my own recording session. I wrote a song to a melody made by Jerome Lawrence who I had a chance to meet at House. I sang him the song one day and Jake suggested that we get in the studio and record. I didn't consider my voice to be "up to par" so I asked if Ihsan Bilal a HouseGrantArtist could come in and record the song for me. We were all there by 8pm and Ihnsan and I went over the melody and the words. I think I realized how different my style of writing is because I could tell that people were confused as to what was what in terms of structure. Really though, it wasn't that hard it's just that I'm a storyteller and I fell as though I go along with the melodies just right. I want people to capture the emotions and the story just as I did when I wrote it but that seems to be easier said than done. I think I'm the only one that gets it or me as of now and that's ok. I like the fact that I do things differently, When you hear it you like it but when you try to do it it just doesn't come through the same way. I get it so next time I will try to take a stab out of it myself. Ihsan did a great job though, I had fun and it was definitely an experience. I feel like I'm getting there.
