Justin HardmanWestminster Recording Connection

Lesson 4 (Connectivity) Posted on 2017-06-16 by Justin Hardman

This weeks lesson was a little longer because after we went over my test from chapter four, we went indepth about microphones.  Steve went over all the different types of microphones and what type of situation to use each one in.  Steve also went over which microphone would be great for certain types of intruments and different types of sounds you can achieve. The biggest take away from my lesson was always treat every microphone with extreme care.  If you are recording a drummer who is not an experieced drummer, you don't want to mic thier tom toms with a $1,000.00 microphone.  I really do appreciate getting this kind of insight from my mentor.

After we went over microphones I brought a Pro Tools Session of a song I've been working onm but I did not have the audio files in the right file on my hard drive.  It turned out to be a great learning experience because Steve showed me how to manage my files through Pro Tools.  It is always awesome when I get to learn all the ins and outs of Pro Tools.  Next week I'll be bring the same song with the audio files in the right place and some other songs I have been working on.  Looking forward to next week's lesson.
