Just took my midterm yesterday at Lowtide Studios with my mentor, felt good to get that over with, so many section reviews!!!! Passed with a 95 and I would take that to the bank any day. Finally with that under my belt I was super eager to play a song for my mentor that I had been working on called destiny. I tracked myself and not to toot my own horn, this was my best performance on drums I've ever tracked. The tricky part was making the kit sound good only using one condenser microphone. Well i thought it was in his dropbox but unfortunately not all the files were present in the audio files folder. For some reason my computer likes to switch the destination of where my files are being saved, AWESOME! So lesson learned and I will be more prepared next session. After taking the midterm we had a session with a young man named Danny Dumais who is a country singer/musician. Just some vocals and guitar nothing to crazy but there were some things introduced in the session I have never encountered before like doing a tempo change while tracking and there were some particular moves I needed to practice for a better workflow. I also searched for a shortcut my mentor has been dying to know which is creating a new playlist, this small discovery will change his and my workflow tremendously. It's the little things, like not leaving your pre roll on so you don't preroll your life away! It was a pleasure working with Danny, he was very polite, hard working and you can tell that he was getting super excited seeing and hearing his songs come to life. It was a hell of a session bout 9-10 hrs long (trying to get use to) so it got to the point Jim finished mixing 10 songs and we all dying of hunger! Till the next episode!
