Stephanie Gilbertson — Winnepeg Recording Connection
My name is Stephanie Gilbertson, originally from Kenora, Ontario I made the decision to relocate to Winnipeg to pursue my interest in music. I wanted to be a part of getting music out to people because of how much it has helped me throughout my life, but I didn’t want to be in the performance aspect of the industry. So I thought, what better way to get involved than Audio Engineering?
I found the recording connection while looking up schools in Canada for music, after reading more I decided this is what I wanted to do. What do I like most about my major? I love that I get to help people put their music out there to people who love it just as much as I do. I love that I still get to be creative without having to be on the front lines of music.
I have worked as a supervisor at a local Tim Horton’s for 2 years, I however have 5 years of customer service experience. How is this relevant to Audio Engineering? On a daily basis at Tim Horton’s I cater to many people who come through and explain what they want and I make it happen for them, how they like it. As an Audio Engineer, I must do the same for my clients just in a different setting. Someone tells me how they want their music to sound. How they want it to be heard by their audience, and I must work my hardest to make sure they get as close to their goals as possible, if not spot on to their specifications.
As far as education beyond the Recording Connection in music, not much goes beyond my high school education. I took a number of music classes in middle school and took a number of vocals courses in my later years in high school. I know basic notes and where they stand on the treble clef. I am currently working to further my understanding in music theory as to be able to better cater to my future clients in the industry.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website, and I hope to see you during my career in Recording.
