Today I was aloud to practice a mock session with Guys With Wives during one of their band practices. Max and I quickly set up 13 mics for the drums, one for the bass amp, one for the guitar amp, baffled off the 3 musicians, and set up 3 rooms mics L/C/R for a total of 18 tracks, and then we headed into the studio, and max opened a session while I setup the patch bay with bantam cables in the booth, patching mics to pre-amps and external gear before hitting the DAW. Once levels were checked and everything was a go. We hit record and listened to the practice with a great live mix in the booth.
After the practice, I got to talking with Todd, the drummer of the band, and asked him if he was able to come in and track drums October 24th for the evening. He said that wouldn't be a problem, he just wanted the 4 songs bounced as references. Simple BMP click track, scratch guitar and scratch vocal track, so Todd would have something to practice to. I told him I would get on it and email him a copy.
After he left, I went back into the studio and quickly plugged in a DI from my guitar and a 58 mic, and set up 4 different sessions with click tracks. I recorded the ideas down and bounced all 4 off, and took them home and sent them off to Todd, calling it a day.
