Hello, my name is Michael Held.  I was born on July 30, 1988 in Chestnut Hill, PA.  From a young age I was interested in music, film, writing, technology, and all forms of creativity.  In my early teens I picked up a guitar and instantly fell in love with it.  Throughout high school I played my guitar every day, writing songs and attempting some amateur recording.  I played in the Pep Band at all the school football games and other events.  I also participated in Television Production, Digital Video Production, and Theater classes.  I was involved in morning news announcements which were broadcasted throughout the school.

    After high school I collaborated with a friend in a musical project.  We formed a duo calling ourselves The Wells.  During this time we recorded a 12 song album.  With what little knowledge we had, we recorded using a laptop, a couple microphones, and a lot of trial and error.  Though not perfect, we were very proud of what we had created, considering our inexperience in recording.  As time went on I picked up the drums and we started playing live as a guitar-drum rock duo.  All the while I was working full time as a chef.  

   I did not enjoy cooking.  It was something I just fell into.  Passion is important and cooking didn't give me that spark.  I worked with many chefs that had a great passion for cooking and I envied them.  I knew I had the same passion for music, film, and technology.  

   In spring of 2013 I followed that passion and discovered the Recording Connection.  As I write this I have yet to have my first lesson.  When I first began researching the school it almost seemed to good to be true.  After meeting my mentor and seeing the studio I am now more excited than ever to start learning as much as I can and continue to grow as a creative individual.
