Nicholas TorchioArlington Recording Connection

Weeks 2&3 Posted on 2016-03-14 by Nicholas Torchio

After completing chapters 2 and 3, I was further intrigued by how many different kinds of recording technologies exist.  As I continued researching which interface and monitors I should get, I found that I had a better understanding of the technical specifications of each.  When I met with Justin, he explained to me how each piece of equipment in the studio works, both by themselves and in conjunction with the other pieces of hardware and software.  As I arrived at my lesson today, Justin was finishing up with another brand new RC student who produces hip-hop beats.  We exchanged info and are already starting to collaborate.

On the night of Saturday, March 12th, I performed at an underground-style hip-hop/R&B event alongside my friend and fellow rapper, Amir (AMC is his stage name).  We have been working on a collaboration project for the past few months, so it felt great to officially appear as a duo to showcase our dynamic style.  I met a few other artists; one of which was another hip-hop duo called Dark Matter.  It was great talking to them, freestyling for a bit, and exchanging tips and ideas about our music.  In addition to the artists I already mentioned, I've actually met and connected with a handful of other local artists over the past couple of weeks.  I'm really excited for what the near future holds now that I have so many options for collaborations and self-improvement.
