Over the course of the past few weeks I have been blessed enough to be behind the scenes in one of Atlanta's most premiere studios. Icon Studios Atlanta and its connection with RRF has jump started my music career in such a way, and I am taken back by it. Over the past weekend I was able to sit in on my first session here. Shadowing engineer Christopher Tucker, I received more hands on knowledge in four hours, than I have in the past four years. No disrespect intended to any former mentors or schooling, but to be hands on in a live recording sessions is a far greater benefit that sitting in the classroom.
During the session, he recorded a young vocalist name Kit. At the tender age of 12 years old, I could hear such maturity in her voice. As Stone Stafford produced the session, I saw simultaneously how to run a complete session. From warm ups, to the actual recording, keeping the artist motivated, all while learning the ins and outs of Protools 10 HD, and even helping out with some background voacals, I could not have had a better learning experience. And while I have performed and recorded music for years, it was completely different from just being in a vocal booth.
I look forward to what more is in store, and I smile big thinking that this is only the beginning. So.... to the beginning, lol or what feels like a new beginning!!!
