A day in the life... Posted on 2014-07-06 by Kiara Mitchell

Studio life at Icon has been dope...lol, for lack of a better word. Don't be mistaken, there are responsibilities and duties that you have to abide by... but the trade off of living your dream is amazing. I absolutely cannot wait until those dreams support me financially!!! I sat in on a session recently with two of my mentors. Not only are they artists, but as I've mentioned before, they are also my studio managers, one is an awesome engineer. Kip... he has this mad scientist way of recording a session! I have never seen a session file so "clean" before. I sat in with these guys while using Protools HD, learning a lot of the short key commands and exploring different plug ins. Its funny to see the different styles of engineers, they all have their favorite tools that they use as their "go to" for sessions. Being on the other side of the control room for so long, its still interesting to see things from a perspective "behind the boards." Anyhow... sitting in with these guys, I was fortunate enough to have been able to run the session a bit... I remember looking up after several hours of recording, and I laughed uncontrollably. This feeling rushed over me, and in that moment I was filled with joy in seeing my dreams come to fruition. I immediately had to stop and thank God (in my mind of course, lol not stopping the session) for answering my prayers! It feels good.. can't wait until I'm all the way in it!

Greetings and salutations,   FInally getting to the fun stuff!!! Lol...not to say that outlines and chapter quizzes aren't all the rave, but actually troubleshooting live sessions is a rush! I'm still soaking in all the components of the patch bay, but I'm a perfectionist, so until I understand it seemlessly my quest for greatness continues... Read More >>
