Nick ShoupAtlanta Recording Connection

First week, and two chapters down Posted on 2018-05-06 by Nick Shoup

I'm really enjoying the program so far! The book has been easy to navigate, and so far all of the information has been refreshing information I already acquired. AV class in high school taught me all about sound and some basics on sound equipment, and building my own replica Darth Vader lightsaber allowed me to learn about electricity. (Side note, I used a super bright LED star to make it look like the real deal. It wasn't a toy you'd find at Walmart!)

All that being said, what I'm really loving is the studio time. My mentor Kenneth has already showed me so much. We talked at length about the importance of keeping your files properly labeled and organized; without the organization, important files are easily lost due to the sheer number of projects! We've also gone over the basics of editing, but more importantly we've talked about tweaking. The truth is, applying a plug-in or two isn't enough to make everything sound just right. A large portion of perfecting projects is experimenting with different settings and techniques to ensure the perfect mix.
