Lesson 9 : Introduction to Pro Tools Session Basics, File Management and Saving Templates

Dahl explained the importance of having session templates saved and ready to be applied to recording sessions.  Having templates for certain recording situations, whether it be for a full band recording or vocals being recorded to audio tracks, can save you time setting up a session from scratch.  This process comes in very handy for Dahl as he already has a full drum set miked and routed to his DAW as well as a Rhode Organ and three other isolation rooms routed through his patch bay.  He explained the crucial importance of having your files backed up.  He backs his system up on an external hard drive for security and the ability to continue working on files even while not in the studio.  I have recently been told my tutor that backing up your files in two places, for a total of three, is a really good idea.
