So since this is microphone placement, refresher. Mono Miking Techniques include, distant, close, ambient, accent. (Got those last two mixed up >__<....got me a B...grrrm...wasn't happy with a B). Plus Stereo Miking Techniques. Including spaced pair, XY, blumlein pair, ORTF, mid-side, and decca tree. Placement is important, not only for knowing how to get the best sound, but the specific sound you are looking for, thus adding more room for creativity.
