Chapter 12, Mix Theory Posted on 2017-03-01 by Jordan Smith

Point blank, I'm still mixing. I've been mixing since I got onto this lesson. I love mixing. It is probably my most favorite thing to do. I feel the freedom to "paint" so to speak in an artistic sense, but with music. You start with your standard layers and build, and build, and build. It awesome. It's where the magic really comes alive in the studio sense. Creating songs, and art at the same time. This is the part I love, and more-or-less this is the part that takes me awhile. I haven't mixed anything the past five years, because I didn't have the luxury to do so, and know that I do, I've been doing it non-stop (when work lets me of course, or life in general). I chose to mix two songs instead of just one (granted I know I only have to do one) I still feel the need to keep practicing. I eventually want to get to all of them, and mix them how I feel I would like to, and maybe add a few things as well.

My mentor pretty much went over the same basic concept though. It's where your creativity soars, and your ideas can come to life. The prime basis of this lesson though, learning how to set up a mix was a refresher. Happy to see I haven't forgotten how to do that though. Set up a mix. . . dude. . . I miss this so much . . .
