Studio Day 1 - 9.7.16 Posted on 2016-09-11 by Amanda Joseph

First day in the Studio.

Who thinks about decibels while at a concert listening to music?! Only the people running the show. There's things that must be done to assure the show will go on when regarding decibels.

  • Sound must be at a specific decibel for shows at different times. (Ex: Once 10pm hits, decibels must be at certain level or show is shut down.)
  • Cop’s go out to street to check levels, show can potentially get shut down if not at the right level.

Here is an example of the Sound Level Limits in Austin.

Molded Ear Protection has been created in which they mold your ears as if you were getting a retainer, and that in turn creates specially made ear plugs for you only. You can set the decibels to whatever range you would like for your ears protection. (Mentor wish’s he would have got them a decade ago.) Helps with reducing the damage done to ears from show’s or being constantly exposed to loud sounds.

Frequency's

  • Humans hear best between 2k and 3k frequency
  • We can handle around 20 to 20,000 hertz yet most bats can detect frequencies as high as 100,000 Hz, so we aren’t shit.

A sound with a low frequency will have a low pitch, for example a human’s heartbeat.

A sound with a high frequency will have a high pitch, like a dog whistle.

So what do frequency’s and hertz have to do with music you ask?

  • It all comes down to Vibration.
  • Frequency’s produce vibrations that affect everything around you from sound's, thoughts, even your emotion's.

Here is a really good article to read, that can explain a lot of questions regarding frequency’s.
