Today was my first official day in the studio other than my interview and when I went in to set my schedule. It wasn’t a “class day” per-say but I was able to sit in on a mix session and it was AMAZING! With the mix of the textbook, the mix session, and everything Skip, my mentor, has told me I've begun to get more and more excited about the whole thing. I have also started to realize even more why I love music so much. Music isn't just language, lyrics or notes on a page, when you break it down to the very basics you realize how complex it really is. Even playing the same note on the same instrument two different times, because of many different variables, the waveforms are never the same and are constantly changing. One of the comments of a fellow student also hit home for me “This is why I love so many types of music 'music is made valuable through the emotional response that is connected to it by the listener.' From the artist, musician, instrument played, environment, arranger, producer, engineer; to everyone.” I've been opened up even more to the realization that its way more than some notes and words on a page. I cant wait to have my first “class day” and another mix session that I have this week!

PS: I've taken more notes in the first chapter than in my entire high school life.
