Kenan BlairBirmingham Recording Connection

Ready to start. Posted on 2018-01-13 by Kenan Blair

So after about 2 months of planning and going through paperwork and financial back and forths i am finaly getting started! So far i have set up my acount getting use to the sytem and how everything works, i am curently waiting to see when i will start doing classes at the studio that i was chosen to intern/aprentice at. the prosess of getting to see the studio started about a week or so after new years i went down to the studio called The Sound Of Birmingham in birmingham alabama to have my interviw, the enginiers names were Don and Tyler, suprisingly don was actualy good friends with my grandfauther as they did a few video/audio projects together, he showed up alittle bit later to the intervew and he seamed pretty nice, my mentor tyler and i sat down in the control room of the studio and taled about where i was as an enginier and where i want to be in the future. I told him that i had been learning on my own since about the age of 12/13 i started with a coppy of abelton and we talked about plugins and diferent teqniques and he seamed very impressed with the knowlage i already had, i told him my goal going through this program was to promote myself from being some guy recording demos with sampled drums and vst amp sims on a gifted copy of logic pro in my bedroom to having a stable job as at a studio one of the things he mentioned was that this program was not designed to make me a "better musician" aka music theory and instrument leasons with i wasnt realy signing up for, i feel like im already a good to profetional musican on my own as in playing shows to earn some extra cash every now and then but i honestly feel like i have more fun on the recording and mixing side of playing because of my love for gear. he showd me around the studio and the live room had a very 70's sort of vibe to it, shag carpeting on the floor/ceiling and it had this super vintage sort of vibe to it, at the end of the interview it felt like it went very well and it ended with him showing me the diferent rooms around the studio. i got home and i imidiantly got a call from the recording conection saying that i was acepted, all that was left to do is paperwork and financial planning and now im here.
so far i have set up my acount and gotten my books and am curently waiting on my copy of pro tools and to find somwhere i can purchase my ilok and am curently waiting on my first day in the studio. cant wait!
