this discussion was all about time code and how important it is to keep the time code refreshed. Whenever there is a new movie coming out you will see commercials and previews for that movie. Every preview had some kind of music or song playing in the background. The audio files and video files must both be synced to the same time code and the time code must be refreshed in order for the song to match each frame. Automation is just anything that can be adjusted automatically. For example, if you ever see the faders on a console moving by themselves, this is because the engineer has written the info into the computer so that the fader know exactly where to be on the console without the engineer ever having to move them by his own hand.
