Lesson 17: Sync and Automation.
Synchronization (sync) is the technology that allows multiple audio and visual media to operate in a tandem to maintain a direct time relationship. It occurs when two or more related events happen at the exact same time. Analog and video system sync is achieved by interlocking the transport speeds of two or more machines. Computer related systems like digital audio, MIDI and digital video, synchronization between devices is often achieves through the use of a timing clock that can be fed through a separate line or be directly embedded within the digital data line itself. Many forms of systems communication and data translation have been developed because it is frequently necessary for analog and digital devices to be synchronized together.
Timecode is a coded signal on audio, video or film giving information such as frame number or time of recording. It is a sequence of number codes generated at regular intervals by a timing synchronization system. It was developed by the SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
Not sure what else to write here. These are just some of my notes that I think are important that I need a review over because once again it's a lot of knowledge to take in at once. As I get farther and farther into the course the hard it gets. That is to be expected but it's also quiet overwhelming. There's just so much more you need to remember as we move on in the course. Lots to know, lots to learn, lots to remember. But I'm sure it will all come in handy one day.
