Jessica CookCalgary Recording Connection

SO.... I have finished my Mid Term and have an idea of what we will be doing for my Final. I'm excited to see this program coming to an end, not saying that I haven't enjoyed it. Looking forward to working in the future.

I got to work at the local arena where we have concerts. I helped set up and took down the stage, lighting, and video for the Backstreet Boys. It was interesting to see how what I have learned come into play. Watching how people react when "famous" artists are around. to realize that professionalism is a really big thing and that some people just don't got it.lol.

I was also able to see how setting up a live show in such a big area is a lot like setting up a show in a small venue. Everything is already ran, the crew knows exactly what bins go where, what cords hook up to what colors and so on. I imagine when I become a little more knowledgeable I will notice more and more similarities between a big venue with famous artists and smaller venues with new unknown artists.

I sure enjoy the atmosphere of live music gigs, everything from set up, to the anticipation people have for the concert, watching it all take place and come alive to the taking down at the end of the night. I really do enjoy the music industry.
