As my mind narrows in on the ultimate goal of becoming a professional audio engineer, this week put a lot of things into perspective for me. I had the opportunity to work with a couple of hip-hop artist and work with voice-over for a commercial. In each session, I grew more comfortable with the preparation process (i.e mic levels, Hearback set-up, proper routing, etc.) As with anything, preparation is an integral part of the recording process, perhaps the most important. Elliot was thorough in coaching me on mic selection, proper routing techniques, etc. What was benefical, was that as I experienced these situations in the studio, I was able to go home and read about it in the eBook. Now, I can apply the knowledge in my own recording session. The light at the end of the tunnel is in the distance, but I most definitely can see it.
