After a few days without posting, here I am again! I moved to a new apartment last week and everything was a little crazy. But now I'm in my new place!
Well, week 10 asked for us to do an interesting assignment. We were supposed to compose something using only a basic sine tone. That's quite challenging! Once I had some issues with my moving, I am a little late on this assignment, but it's finally done! So what I tried to do was to compose something using the pitch class set theory, like Anton Webern and some early XX century composers used to do. So I picked the group 0 1 5 6 and three more transpositions (T2, T7 and T9).
To create the pitches, I used a pitch shifter from AudioSuite (that was pre requisite form the assignment). The pitch shifter worked just fine on modulating the sine's pitch. With it, I could easily create my pitch class sets. I also used a reverb from AudioSuite in order to create more variety to the tones.
The reason I chose the transpositions I mentioned was due to the coincident pitches they have: T0 has two pitches in common with T9 that has two pitches in common with T2 that has two pitches in common with T7. I could create a myriad of relations to help me develop the piece, but I really wanted to stay focused on the assignment, otherwise I would hand it in one month from now.
Obviously, a musical genious like Anton Webern would laugh at this piece. It is not my intention to write like him, of course. I wrote the piece in something in less than one hour and I had fun with it.
So, the link for the piece goes below.
See you all!
