This being my first day, I wasn't sure of what to expect. Went through the daily chores like the rest of the interns and assistant engineers; which range from cleaning to setting up the studio for the next client as described in the daily schedules. The assistant engineer(Seth) I was scheduled to work with was very helpful and patient given my lack of knowledge about setting up a live studio from chosing the differnt microphones to setting up a live studio specific to the differnt engineers in the studio. I found this interesting and was able to master what microphones were always set up for the drums, guitars, keyboard. But unfortunately didnt know why they were specific to the instrument.
Later that afternoon I met with my mentor for lesson one, which was slightly different from what I read in the online text book. However, I was open to any style of learning that would enable me attain my set goal, as well as get to know, and understand my mentors teaching style and expectations. I got a clear idea of how sound is heard and percieved in a recording environment.
