Delve into some deep experimentation with microphone placement techniques. In this lesson I became familiar with different ways to manipulate the placement of a microphone so as to achieve a desired output signal. Not only did I learn how to capture the direct signal but also how to attain a natural sound by recording the room and its acoustics. One thing I found interesting was the attempt to recreate human hearing with the use of binaural recording. I then quickly learned that there are a lot more reasons not to use it than there are to use it. For example, the fact that it works better if you listen only through headphones and not speakers or how it is recorded with a flat frequency spectrum whil in reality our pinnae, head, and shoulders affect the frequencies we hear. It was a good idea but not very effective. Now that i have acquired more tips and tricks, I can go apply them wherever I go.
