After an anxious wait, Pro Tools finally made its way around to me. In lesson 9 I went through a few steps on how to manage my way around the system like creating new sessions, understanding the file structure, and saving your work, but there is nothing better than actually experimenting for yourself. I have now been using Pro Tools for about a week and let me tell you -- it feels great.
So far I have been setting up templates and routing my signal flow for the sessions that my mentor gives me to mix. Of course he gives me raw material to work with so I also go in and fix minor details such as making sure punch-ins have a crossfade and consolidating the files so I won't make the mistake of pulling them out of time. I also go in and take care of all the extraneous noise in the tom tracks.
Overall I have been having quite some fun working with this DAW. I just returned from my eleventh lesson and it looks like I will be doing some heavy editing in a few sessions I was given. This should be fun after all, I am loving it.
