The basics of sound Posted on 2013-09-20 by Michael Mendoza

After my first Chapter,

I've learned the in's and out's of audio perception. The measurements of frequencies, amplitude, wavelengths and beats. The way  your ears receive the sound is taken by the pinna. The pinna is shaped specifially for in the sounds received. It is then given to the tympanic membrane or the ear drum, which is attached to the malleus, the incus and the stapes which give a sort of domino effect of sound to the cochlea. The cochlea is a coiled up organ with reed-like fibers that are connecte to hair follicles. Different follicles for different frequencies that send impluses to your brain. The louder the decibel sent out, the more damage it can do to your inner ear and ear drum mostly. It destroys the hair follicles from high frequencies of sound which results in hearing loss.

Super interesting,

anything to add? feel free!

peace
