Today I finished my book orientation with Mark. I'd like to thank him for bearing with me in the initial stages where I couldn't find the "Apps" extension in Google Chrome. Everything went great and I was off the phone in a little under 20 minutes.
I can't wait to get in to the studio though, I called James at Two Bodies of Water almost immediately after hanging up the first call. First session is scheduled for next Wednesday (Dec. 17) - it would have been tomorrow but he was already booked up. James seems like a really cool guy, at least that was my first impression of him. Very friendly, personable and down to earth as well as giving off a very professional vibe. The guys at the Recording Connections head office spoke very highly of him too, so needless to say I'm stoked!
I started diving in to the textbooks, actually I started doing this last night, so you could call me a bit of a keener (this might only be a Canadian phrase). I'm not going to lie, the first couple lesson were slightly lackluster and droney but I don't doubt their importance as a lesson. I'm currently in to the third chapter on my own - I don't want to get too far ahead though in order to gain a firm understanding on it all. I'm loving the e-textbook that is provided, all the embedded tools like hyperlinks, audio clips, and YouTube videos make understanding concepts a breeze (so far). The previous comments can be helpful sometimes, but sometimes they're also full of nonsense, it's kind of hit or miss.
Can't wait to dive in to the course work further! Not to mention I'm ecstatic about the hands on work, so far so good!
Much love,
Tyler

So it's been a pretty busy week for me, and I've sort of fallen behind in writing my blog entries. I had a DJ gig over the weekend and have been kind of busy with the holidays but I'd like to talk a little bit about my first 'real' session in the studio... Read More >>
