I arrived at Engine Room Audio in the morning and met with Chris Griffin in the Mezzanine control room where he was doing some SSL work on channel strip #47 on the console. There were reports of the Low Pass Filter not working so set up an oscillator on Pro Tools to run sound through the channel and tweak the connection. Chris made a workaround that disabled the bypass on the filter but still made it operational, until we noticed that signal was bleeding through the channel. After some troubleshooting it was concluded that the problem would take longer to fix than Chris had time for so he reinserted the channel as it was. Then Mark came upstairs and spoke with us about the differences in signal chain between a home studio setup and a professional studio setup. He spoke with us about cable theory, connections, and monitors and the different components some of them have based on if they are active or passive, and if they have active or passive crossovers, if they are bi-amped etc. After a lunch break we went into the master room to observe Mark master 3 songs and then back up to the Mezzanine to help mic and set up a session that an artist and his engineer booked.
