In the control room alone Posted on 2015-04-27 by Alexander Schug

Whenever i write a new song i make sure i go to the studio to mix it on the console so the ADC 192 can take effect on my sounds. The thing is i have to set up my laptop to the console. So what i did was take snake cables that converted from TRS to RCA. I have 1 white and 1 black TRS cable plugged into the DI box which then i plug in the RCA cables to the Intereface. After i have that set up i plug in the usb from the interface into my computer along with the consoles ethernet cable. Then in the little patch bay area i have to plug in the another set of TRS cables both into the top and then make sure the channels im plugged into are on on the console. Before i open up a protools session i have to change the output of my mac settings to the audio interface im using. I now open the protools session im working on and i have to go into my playback engine and change it to the interface as well. I also have to open a protools session on the console with a master and an audio track in order for the signal to come out of the monitors. I have to change the input of the audio track to the channels the TRS cables in the patch bay are plugged into then arm the track. Now im able to mix and here my song through the monitors and have the 192, the interface, and the console take effect on my track. The equipment isn't the only reason i mix in there its also because the acoustics of the room are so nice. I find nothing to be more peaceful than to be in the console room alone mixing a song i produced and hearing it in such a perfect place to hear music. After im done mixing the track i always play it really loud once to hear how its sounds and also because its just an amazing feeling. My mentor just lets me go into the studio when i want now and set up. I got this process down now and it actually doesnt take as long as it sounds. The very last thing i do is make sure i change all the settings i made on my computer back and put everything away that i used. Nothing is better than being alone in the control room. NOTHING.
