Last night was incredibly helpful when it came to putting my new knowledge into practice. Brian went over many of the different cables that we use in the studio everyday and talked to me about how they work. I even got to help him solder one of the wires in one of our cables back together so we could make it usable again, and it worked! All night, as we went from room to room setting things up, he would ask me about which cables were which and what they were for, and why that was important. It felt good to actually be able to answer him correctly since technology and wires are somewhat of a challenge for me. I feel much more comfortable now, and I know it will get even better and better as we go.
It was somewhat rough though last night because things kept going wrong and equipment kept breaking all night so we would go from one room to another and fixing whatever seemed to be wrong. One of the funniest things was that the drummer's throne actually busted when the drummer tried to sit on it and we ended up duct taping it back together to make it usable again. I can't tell you how much that made me laugh. All in all, even though things kept going wrong, it was still a great night. I learned a lot and had a great time doing it. I can't wait to dive even deeper into it all and come out the other side like a Pro.
The picture for this blog is actually a picture of a couple of the guys from the band Red Foot, and my mentor, Brian Thompson, is on the right. I've been learning a lot with these guys, and I'm so grateful to have this opportunity to grow and become someone amazing in the world of music.
