Chapter 14 Posted on 2017-07-20 by Hunter Wright

This chapter was super cool getting into compressors and the history behind it and how they all work. Super excited to start getting deeper into this stuff and components that will help my mixing and mastering. This is what i've been looking forward to since day one.

  • Compressor reduces dynamic range.
  • An Expander increases dynamic range
  • The Threshold is the decibel point at which compression is initiated.
  • The Ratio determines the amount of gain reduction of a compressor.
  • The Attack determines how quickly compression will initiate after the threshold is breached.
  • The Release determines how quickly gain reduction is reset after the signal drops back below the threshold.
  • The Threshold is the decibel point at which compression is initiated.
