Aubree StockmanJacksonville Recording Connection

mostly an all day session/ a few hours for another day!!! Posted on 2014-07-21 by Aubree Stockman

i got into the studio about 8am setting up the micophones in the drum room i still have a little trouble with which mics are for overhead R and overhead L, the toms, and the snare but other than that i got it but jason or larry usually come check to see and help if i got something mixed up. this time we recorded a band that had a bunch of different elements to them. they had someone to rap, the main singer, a bass player, a drummer, a guitarist, and a keyboardist/ back-up singer. there drummer kept pretty good time thru out the session, but when it came time to change the song a bit there was just a tiny part he'd miss, but still a really good drummer. when i was listening and watching what he was playing it was hard to tell on the vamp if he was using a sweep or just plucking but each time got better and better, and very mellow to what i'm use to playing, but he did stay in time but a few times he was just a little off. the rap at first had no emotion to the rap but the longer they recorded the better it got, and hearing that he wrote those lyrics the night before is very impressive. i'm not big into keys but for what they were trying to create it fit perfectly, and with the backing vocals she was a little off, but with the advice that larry and jason gave her it sounded so much better. for the main vocals there were a few questionable spots but she did an amazing job on the vocals. and for the bass player at times it was hard to hear him because the volume keep going down on his bass but other than did pretty good keeping good time with the drummer. a great all day experience to see a lot of the recording process and experience a band goes thru and the producers.  the other day i think we checked microphones.
