In my last studio session with my mentor Phil Green, he broke down what breaking the sound barrier meant. He compared it to when Iron Man or Superman takes off when they fly and then you hear that loud noise, which is the sonic boom effect after breaking the sound barrier from moving faster than the speed of sound. Before Phil explained it to me like this, I never really thought about it in that way. When watching movies I never really thought about the science behind why the sound effects sound the way they do. I always thought that they were just that...sound effects!
