First Day Intro Posted on 2013-09-10 by Jordin Stransky

1) Date of Session: June 6, 2013
2) Time in: 4:00 pm
3) Time out: 5:15pm
4) Lesson #: 1

I had my first lesson today and got introduce to my mentor, Rick Camp.  We talked a little about ourselves and why I wanted to get into audio and recording. Which my main reason is that I've gotten pushed to study things that weren't my passion. I started off at UNLV in nursing, went through kinesiology, but kept coming back to music. I'd get so uninterested in what I was learning that I didn't have any motivation to go to school, it was a waste of time and money. I finally said, Okay, I'll finish my second year but I'm going to look into audio engineering/recording. I found this program and decided to give it a shot. Today, being my first day, I was already flooded with a huge amount of information, but I loved it. We skimmed the surface of everything. Knowing parts of the console (DigiDesign D Show), being introduced to ProTools, getting a studio tour and getting asked questions of what I already know. Considering I had two physics classes in high school, I already knew everything there was to know in Lesson 1, so we could move on to more interesting things. I'm already excited for my next lesson. I'm actually excited to do homework and to research topics on my own to soak up the knowledge.
