It is week 3 for me and we are working with microphones today. I’ve been learning all about the different types of mics i may see in the study and what each one is best used for. We set up 4 microphones to 4 different amps and changed them around to get acquainted with the difference of sounds and how linking up the mics, and how the signal flow looks. I think it is awesome being able to be like the chief in the studio, knowing how to set everything up, what goes where, and how it all flows and works. It’s an impressive ability that’s calls for a lot of memory to know which mics to use to capture sounds from different sources, or even where to place them. I didn’t know very much about microphones but I feel much more comfortable know after looking at them and hearing how each recording an acoustic guitar. The “spaceship cockpit” is starting to become familiar for me!
