Aes cable - heavy duty, large format studios

Optical - 8 inputs - digital

RCA - low quality consumer cable

Unbalanced - essentially 1 channel or 2

Balanced - gives you stereo input because of the three connectors

TRS - tip, ring, sleeve

Grounding - shield from interference with sound. if something isnt grounded properly you will hear a hum

Microphone level is -60db

Instrument level is between -30db and -20db

Crosstalk - when a cable is laying on top of another and creating a sound as a result.

Patchbay - 96 point TT and 48 point TRS are most common

Patchbay is a way to route signal anywhere you want it

TT cable saves space rather than quarter inch patch bays

Normaled connections are when something automatically passes through those connections - like a default

Fully normaled - automatically saudered to go somewhere

Half normaled - broke the line by adding something else - plug something into the output, still going to travel to its destination unless you plug into the input.

Split output - taking the signal and multiplying it ex. from 1 to 4 outputs

Open connection - nothing wired to it

Parallel - normal can not be broken, can patch into it and the normal will not be affected

Snake - carries 16 wires and 4 outputs - can be used to patch from room to room

ELCO - 28 channels - large format application such as a large format studio with large console

Light pipes - optical
