Chapter 4: Connectivity Posted on 2015-02-03 by Bre Shuster

This weeks chapter was definitely a lot to take in. The amound of wires needed to set up audio engineering equipment is unreal, and very confusing. I was surprised to see all of the different shapes, sizes, and colors cords have to have in order to show and hear the differences between them. Going into the studio this week I really noticed all the small details an audio engineer has to know in order to make music. Starting this chapter I got really nervous that it would be hard for me to know where each one goes with not only the cords, but other equipmeny as well. After listening to different sound frequencies I started learning how to wrap and put away wires before learning hands-on where they exactly went for basic information that everyone needs to know while working in the studio. Judging by the amound it takes to actually make a song it is crazy how many wires need to be plugged in, wraped propperly, and put away in their rightful place. Not only that, reading into this chapter about differeny types of cords was surprisingly interesting to me. During my studio session this week I was not only shown the ropes of wiring cords but I also got listen in on a woman who was singing in the booth. It was very interesting how much is put into singing and recording besides just singing into a mic and showing up on a screen. There is a lot of editing to do before it is perfect and ready to be shown off. I am looking forward to going reading into the next chapter about microphones and learning more hands on.
