This week I learned about many different kinds of microphones and what each purpose was for each one. I recognized many of the styles, but a lot were very unfamiliar to me. I was very interested in how certain microphones were ment for far or near distances. Also I was very surprised when I read about how some mics are made for stronger sounds and others can't take as much. Reading this chapter was a lot to take in because of all the informtation each microphone comes with. It was a lot easier to go over with my mentor in the studio, and to actually get to see it in person with the equipment it is recording. I saw which microphones were best with which instrument and hear the differences from other recording saved on my mentor's computer. I know the more time I spend in the studio observing everything that goes on during a recording, I will become a lot more familiar with microphones and each one's purpose.
