Up until a few weeks ago I had only seen Pro Tools in action. I had never had the opportunity to play around in the ammusement park that is Pro Tools in all its glory. Prior to that I have been working in Cakewalk Sonar 8.5. I completed a number of different projects using that software, for example, I tracked and mixed a few of my friends for an acoustic tribute compilation to the late Tony Sly. I also mixed tracks of other participants of that project and mastered it (said project is available for download at www.bestregards.bandcamp.com). I have now had my copy of Pro Tools for about a month and am eager to really learn how to utilize all of its funtions.
Last week was a continuation of the project Derek and I started the last time we met. Consisting of audio files exported from one of the tracks of my bands new record. We spent most of the time organizing the session and getting everthing set up in preparation for a mix. Basically consolidating things that were on more than one track that didn't necessarily need to be and things of that nature. We set up effects returns and went through a sort of extensive overview of signal routing within Pro Tools. I'm Looking forward to getting more in depth with the program and getting some song files to "play" around with.
Tomorrow I go in to go over lesson 9 and then on to rehearsal for my upcoming tour. We leave wednesday and I cannot wait to get out of town and see old friends, make new ones, and hopefully sell a few records. For any of you out there interested the band can be found on the web at www.lowbrowband.com 'Til next time!
