We all know that the dance music industry goes hand in hand with clubbing culture. It is a business that has certainly come a long way in the past decade, and is quickly on the rise. Technological advances have allowed limitless possibilities regarding the recording / production process, as well as the performance of a live DJ set. Miami is one of the woldwide hubs of dance, and it is my pleasure to review relevant events in the area.
On Saturday, October 1st, internationally renowned DJs Chus+Ceballos, performed a marathon set on the Terrace of Club Space, in downtown Miami. After an opening set by resident Louis Puig, they rocked the dancefloor from 3am until midday on Sunday. Founders of the Stereo Productions record label and hailing from Madrid, Spain, Chus and Ceballos are the pioneers of the Iberican Sound, which they describe as follows:
"It’s a very groovy sound, very rhythmic and percussive, that is always looking at the dancefloor. It has an electronic touch, but with soul, sometimes a bit housey, sometimes harder, but never cold. It's hot, 'caliente'! This is the 'Stereo Sound', our sound."
It is definitely a show I would recommend seeing. The following Saturday, I attended another event at Space, this time to catch Justin Sheppard behind the 1's and 2's. This man has been steadily rising to prominence ever since he became a resident at Suite Nightclub in South Beach, having a more vocal, electro and funky approach to making people move. His name is one to keep an eye on in the near future.
Until soon,
