Chapter 13 Posted on 2016-10-11 by Nick Wolosyn

This chapter is about equalization, it begins with the history of equalization and people like George Massenburg who made huge impacts on the world of audio engineering. It not only taught me about equalization in Pro Tools but it also tught about the physical device. It showed me the physical components that are involved in an equalizer like capacitors, inductors, and resistors. It  also reviews low and high pass filters, low pass filters will let low frequencies pass the cut off frequency, and high pass filters will let high frequencies pass the cut off frequency. This chapter also reviews the shelving filter and the notch filter. The shelving filter is a type of filter that creates a rise or drop in frequency and continues at that level to the end of that spectrum. The notch filter is created mainly to get rid of unwanted sounds like hums on a guitar line. The end of the chapter also reviews the different types of EQs that Pro Tools has.
