A I/OMontreal Recording Connection

Hey, I'm back! ( Dezember and January Months ) Posted on 2017-01-31 by A I/O

I would like to start this post with my apologies for not posting so often for the past days... I've been starting to work seriously on my personal project and I'm also having lots of time in the studio with Sam. For this blog post, I would like to tell you all about all the stuff I've been doing and working on!

First of all, every week I've been joining Sam on his mixing sessions for Lionzgate, he has been working a lot on his personal project and even rented some sessions at an amazing all analog studio for a final mixing and mastering stage ( I will talk about it below ). I stay with him around 2-3 times per week on 7 hour sessions from 9:30am to 4:30 doing mixing stuff for his album tracks, it's  being an amazing opportunity for me being able to see him working on his actual projects, I feel that there is no better way for learning than that, seeing people doing the actual work. Some sessions we even have actual instrument players recording for certain parts of his music from Indian percussion sounds to violinists! besides all this mixing knowledge I'm getting, I still meet with him every Friday for my 1 on 1 lessons, since I'm a little advanced based on the RC online lessons, most of this sessions he helps me with specific questions I have about my projects in a wide range of subjects, great time! Through all those sessions I am learning how to use a big variety of plugins from Waves, Fabfilter, iZotope and more!

Talking about my work, I'm starting an Electronic Music project by my own for Techno Music! I've been studying a lot many marketing subjects from this book called The Soundcloud Bible by Bodi Voogt, besides all the knowledge I already have earned helping Sam with his first release, this book has a lot of great content! It helped me create a marketing plan related to my work where I developed a releasing schedule for my music as well of how to be consistent and create momentum, all this in the first chapter! I am working on 4 tracks in the moment where the first one I plan to release in March, having more 2 tracks already done when releasing the first one, I will keep you guys informed in future posts about them! I am very excited about my journey :)

Finally, I would like to talk about the sessions Sam rented at Armoury Studios ( http://armourystudios.com/ ), what a place! The best studio I ever entered, filled with all the analog gear you can imagine! Sam is working with the Audio Engineer Paul Silvera for the final steps of the completion of his album mixing, again, an amazing opportunity for me seeing legendary people doing the actual work. At Armoury Studios, albums like: Drake - Take Care, Avril Lavigne - Under My Skin, 3 Doors Down- Away, Seal - Human Being, Ratatoullie - Soundtrack, The Cranberries - To The Faithful Departed, Nickelback - Silverside, Kiss - Psycho Circus were all recorded there! Very amazing! Tomorrow we are having another session there :)

Concluding, this is how my last weeks were looking like! Again, I am very sorry for not being posting regularly, the past days have been very busy but I am more than happy with the course and how things are going! I will keep with the blog posts during next months and working on my next RC lessons :)

Thanks for your visit!
