This week I was able to attend my second drum tracking session. The benefit of this session was that I was able to pick the brain of the engineer and see their thought process on why they chose certain mics and mic placement. I learned some pro tips when setting up overhead and room mics. The end goal is always the same but how we get there can very drastically between engineers(some engineers swear by drummers perspective, others audience perspective). I also got hands on with troubleshooting the console. There are always problems. finding smart and creative workarounds are crucial in these sessions
