Nick $heen Presents: The ENGINE That Keeps On [Week 1] Posted on 2017-08-15 by Nicholos Prosper

My week started off very unknowingly, as I just had gotten an email from an one Mike Badger(Engineer from Engine Room Audio). He had reached out to me quite early, because my first lesson was scheduled for Thursday of the 10 of August. Receiving that email on that Tuesday caught me by uprise but a uprise I was grateful to have. Waking up the next morning I was thrilled to be making my way to a prestigious studio where many greats have created at. As I made my way to and Broadway, trying to finish my Bacon,Egg, and cheese before I arrived, I pondered as I thought about how my life would be making an interesting change as I would be affecting the generation of creatives. As I walked up the steps to an isolated studio within Engine Room, my heart was beating to find that I would meet my mentor Mike Badger for the first time. My first impression of Mike was that he was very personable and person that actually wanted to be at 'work'. As we were getting started he allowed me and 2 other students to set up the incoming band's equipment and microphones. My first intial problem and only with setting up is the wire arrangement for all channels that we were using. It gets tangled very densly and it was hard intially to wrap the wires around for order. As I got the niche of things I saw that a fear of being in a big studio was just the same as being in a regular studio that I'm usually in at my friends house. ITS A PLACE YOU RECORD MUSIC IN ! And I was just happy to be in the vincinity. As we were beginning to get started another familar face walk in. Mark Christsen ! Seeing him actually here so early for a mic set up that he could have skipped as a Grammy nominated engineer is a sight you don't see in one's work ethic. He was very polite and greeted every one in the room. He kept every one's energy in the room high. As the Libra I am I'm not shy to ask many questions, So I asked after mic set up who we were working with. Almost simuntaneously as I asked the question an guy which had happen to be the artist Mike was working with. He was very cool as he asked about any project I was working on which I am which is called "Letters for Summer" also I gave him my SOUNDCLOUD link (https://soundcloud.com/nick-sheen-la), he was glad to know I was artist myself.  As we were about to start Mark explain what was happening he said he was bringing in a band of well known musicians one including legendary drummer Shawn Pelton. I was stoked man ! Not only is it my first day but I'm getting a chance to see Mark and Shawn Pelton work together in the same room. What an humbling experience. As we were working I seen what made both of them great .Mark's intricate vison for what sounds good with Shawn Pelton's wicked groove  I was in awe with everything. I didn't want the session to end. As we were breaking down equimpent I was glad to have went through such a wonderful session wprking with the artist that i did. GREAT EXPERIENCE!
